This week has been exciting for fans of the DC Extended Universe, if a recent rumor proves to be accurate. According to a report from The Cultured Nerd, Zoic Studios will be handling the visual effects (VFX) for Zack Snyder’s Justice League and, potentially, also for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.
It’s officially known that HBOMax will release the SnyderCut, which requires VFX work. While there’s some uncertainty about the necessity of VFX for Ayer’s film, considering that additional scenes were completed but later removed or altered. Regardless, if this news is accurate, it could be a significant development for DCEU enthusiasts.
The report also mentions that Snyder’s Justice League will utilize VFX to give Superman his black suit and restore the original designs of Steppenwolf and the parademons. Zoic Studios is projected to require around three months to finish the VFX work, excluding any potential reshoots.

David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is reportedly undergoing VFX under the production name “Ayerwolf.” The film is expected to restore the original plot, featuring Enchantress using the mother boxes and her alliance with the Joker. This setup could lead to Steppenwolf’s appearance in Snyder’s Justice League. It can be assumed that we might also see the return of Leto’s Joker scenes that were not included in the release. Ayer has expressed disappointment over the removal of those scenes.
Work on David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is anticipated to take nine months. In summary, if this news is truthful, audiences could experience not only the Snyder Cut but also the Ayer Cut.
With James Gunn working on finishing up his Suicide Squad movie as we speak it remains to be seen if any of these changes to Ayer and Snyder’s films will have any impact on the DCEU going forward. Or will it all just be fan service perhaps?
