Chaos has announced the release of V-Ray 5 update 2. This update introduces several exciting new features. One notable addition is the new V-Ray Decal object, which enables users to project a material onto a surface or object from any angle without the need for UVW mapping. These decals offer masking capabilities and can be layered to provide enhanced control over their ordering.
Other notable features include a new sharpen/blur layer in the frame buffer, which provides greater control over image post-processing. The update also allows control over how much each light affects atmospheric effects within the light mix, offering more flexibility in scene setup. Furthermore, there’s extended material override functionality and enhancements to V-Ray Dirt. Initial support for the USD format is also included, along with the capability to distribute lighting using particle systems via the V-Ray Instancer.
