Sebastian Schäfer has announced the release of Storm 0.6, the latest version of its standalone particle simulation tool. This update brings several exciting new features and improvements:
-
New Cloth Simulation Capabilities:
- Introduction of a new cloth-solver, cloth-constraints, and cloth-guide nodes.
- The cloth solver enables stable tearing of cloth meshes and lines.
- Cloth constraints can be created based on groups or merged together.
- A visualize-constraint node (exclusive to cloth) has been added.
- Constraints now support varying “stiffness” and “breakstretch” values, which can be pre-existing as point attributes.
- Cloth inflation force is now triangle area-dependent by default.
- Improved Alembic Support: Alembic importers and exporters can now handle lines (curves).
- Enhanced Attribute Transfer: Better weighting has been added to the attribute-transfer node when using proximity mode.
- Attribset Node Enhancements: The Attribset-node now includes a falloff parameter.
- Point-Delete Node Functionality: The Point-delete node is now compatible with meshes.
- Attrib-Set Node Mesh Masking: The Attrib-set node can directly utilize a mesh as a “mask” and features a falloff parameter.
- Volume Gradient Node Options: The Volume gradient node offers an option to normalize and select an output name.
- Mesh-Curvature Node: A new Mesh-Curvature node has been added.
- Smoke-Solver Node Update: The smoke-solver node includes an option for linear vorticity.
- Transform-Stick Frame Activation: The transform-stick can now be enabled on a specific frame, functioning as a classic collider.
- Write Node Attribute Removal: The write node has the option to remove data attributes.
- Online License Support: Storm now supports online licenses.
- Additional Improvements: Numerous small improvements and bug fixes are included.
