Slow 3ds Max Scene Loading Over Network: Causes and Solutions
Experiencing long loading times when opening 3ds Max scenes from a network location, like a RAID? This issue can significantly hinder your workflow, causing frustration and wasted time.
For instance, even smaller scenes could take an extended period, perhaps 20-30 minutes, to open when accessed over a network.
Possible Causes
Several factors can contribute to this problem. These include, but aren’t limited to:
- Outdated Operating System.
- Network-related updates that are needed.
- Antivirus or Firewall software that needs updating.
- Bitmap assets that are not using UNC Paths.
- Certain iToo Forest Pack assets might be causing slowdowns when used with network settings.
Troubleshooting Tips:
It is important to note that solutions might need assistance from your internal IT department, as Autodesk does not offer support or assistance on individual company networks.
The initial step is to consult with your company’s Information Technology (I.T.) department. They can help identify and resolve potential speed issues affecting data transfer across the network.
If network connection speeds appear normal, there might be other issues. Refer to this article for further guidance: How to work with 3ds Max across a network and cloud environment
