Thinkinetic has unveiled a new version of its destruction plugin, Pulldownit, for Maya. Version 5 brings a substantial performance upgrade, with the fracture solver experiencing a speed increase of up to two times. This update also introduces more debris in impact zones, eliminating the requirement for additional adjustments. Creating elongated surface cracks has been simplified through a new feature that allows users to shatter along a portion of a curve. This tool also provides various techniques for refining the cracks visually. Reversing dynamics cracks is now achievable with a single click, and surface cracks can be bounded, ensuring broken fragments remain on the surface or fall as intended. Enhancements have also been made to jagginess, the ability to add roughness to cut surfaces, with roughness now exclusively applied to broken areas within a simulation by default. This results in lighter meshes, which is beneficial for rendering or exporting to game engines.
