Pilgway has officially announced the release of 3DCoat 2024, bringing with it a host of new features and enhancements.
Notably, the software now supports Vector Displacement Brush, enabling users to import and apply VDM EXR files for more detailed sculpting. A new Vector Displacement Creation tool, “Pick & Paste,” has also been introduced to simplify capturing and replicating surface details within a scene.
Another key advancement is the implementation of Live Booleans with Voxels, supporting Add, Subtract, and Intersect modes, making complex object manipulations more straightforward. This release integrates Layers Masks and Clipping Masks, compatible with Photoshop, enhancing texture and detail work across various painting modes. Continual improvements to the user interface aim to improve usability and aesthetics, including better font readability and spacing.
The 2024 version also introduces tools such as the “Edge Flow” tool in the Modeling Room for adjusting curvature in geometry. In addition, it brings significant enhancements in UV management, 3D printing export compatibility, and Python API expansions for more flexible development. An Addons system has been introduced to foster a community of developers and users, sharing scripts and tools to further extend the software’s capabilities.
Among other significant improvements, the Scene Scale Master tool has been implemented to ensure accurate scale fidelity between 3DCoat and other applications. Integration with Blender has been improved. The addition of an AI Assistant, a specialized Chat GPT, and a new UI color scheme toggle helps to streamline workflows and customize the user experience. This release also focuses on enhancing the software’s efficiency and intuitiveness, as seen in the redesigned Activity Bar and Viewport-Capture features, which aim to reduce UI clutter and improve navigation.
