Autodesk has announced the release of Maya 2020, introducing significant updates for animators, along with improvements to the graph editor and time slider. Key highlights of this release include:

  • Cached Playback: Experience faster animation playback and more predictable results with new preview modes. This includes layered dynamics caching and more efficient caching of image planes.
  • Animation Bookmarks: Easily mark, organize, and navigate key events within your animation timeline using animation bookmarks.
  • Bifrost for Maya: Benefit from performance gains, support for Cached Playback, and new MPM cloth constraints within Bifrost.
  • Viewport Improvements: Interact with and select dense geometry or numerous smaller meshes more rapidly in the viewport and UV editors.
  • Modeling Enhancements: Explore the new Remesh and Retopologize features to refine your models.
  • Rigging Improvements: Enjoy new matrix-driven workflows, nodes for precise position tracking on deforming geometry, and a new GPU-accelerated wrap deformer.

The release also incorporates Arnold 6, enabling production rendering on both CPU and GPU, alongside performance enhancements and new simulation features within Bifrost, Maya’s visual programming environment.
