Maxon recently released R20 of Cinema 4D with some significant new features.

Significant updates include a ProRender update and a nodal shading system. A review will be available soon with additional details.
Red Shift is a well-regarded biased GPU renderer, known for its speed and quality. They are developing a real-time renderer utilizing game engine technology, capable of leveraging Nvidia’s ray tracing hardware. Due to certain feature limitations with the Nvidia-based renderer, users can choose the best option based on their project requirements.
Red Shift is available as a plugin for most high-end 3D animation systems, including Maya, Houdini, and, of course, Cinema4D.
At NAB, it was announced that Red Shift was acquired, meaning it will now be part of the Maxon umbrella. However, it will still be under Nemetcshek.
There are some key aspects that will remain consistent. Firstly, support for third-party animation systems will persist through the use of their plugin APIs. Secondly, the pricing of Red Shift will remain unchanged, continuing as a cost-added option, as it is currently.
The integration of Red Shift into Cinema4D will change, however. It will no longer be restricted to Maxon’s plugin API and instead will have direct access to the underlying code. Thus, for those with a Red Shift license, the integration will be seamless.
