Lumion 2024 has arrived, bringing a host of enhancements including real-time ray tracing, expanded compatibility with new nature assets, and boosted video rendering speeds, now over five times faster than before.
The new version lets designers preview their projects with fully ray-traced visuals, offering immediate feedback on design decisions. The ray tracing capabilities have been refined to feature detailed reflections in glass and water, the way sunlight diffuses through transparent materials, and the rich shadows created by colored glass. The software also incorporates Nvidia Real-time Denoising in both photo and movie modes, providing near-instant previews and significantly accelerating the design workflow.
Video rendering times have been significantly optimized, with the software now capable of producing comparable quality output using fewer samples. This advancement results in substantially reduced rendering times for videos, facilitating the creation of dynamic, realistic animations far more efficiently.
The release also includes new features for working with glass and translucent materials, giving designers more control over how light interacts with these surfaces. Updates encompass the ability to finely tune glass properties, such as thickness, light absorption, and refraction, along with improved rendering of subsurface scattering effects, which add depth and authenticity to materials like marble and fabrics.
