Autodesk Project Salvador: Generative AI Enhances Fusion Software

Autodesk integrates AI into Fusion

Autodesk has announced Project Salvador, a new initiative integrating generative AI technologies into its Fusion software.

Inspired by the AI model DALL-E and named as an homage to Salvador Dali, Project Salvador aims to connect existing third-party AI models to enhance the Fusion user experience. The project prioritizes flexibility, allowing integration of top-tier models into Fusion workflows as they evolve.

The Project Salvador beta is available on the Autodesk App Store as a plug-in. It combines third-party AI models with Autodesk Fusion, adding functionalities through expanded APIs. These include text-to-image (generating 2D design inspiration from keywords); image-to-image (creating design variations from Fusion canvas screenshots); image-to-canvas (importing AI-generated images into Fusion designs); and text-to-sketch (converting text descriptions into Fusion sketches).

Currently supported technologies include OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion models, and Vectorizer AI.

In other Autodesk AI news, Yahoo Finance interviewed Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagost about AI’s role in business competitiveness.

Anagost emphasized AI’s growing importance for maintaining competitiveness. He noted a shift in business leaders’ perception towards the necessity of AI adoption, highlighting that a solid digital foundation is crucial, especially for businesses yet to fully digitize their operations.

The interview also referenced an Autodesk survey indicating strong industry support for AI, with 76% endorsing it for their sectors and 66% viewing it as essential for future competitiveness.

Anagost also addressed AI regulation, advocating for the American Privacy Rights Act and a risk-based regulatory approach to facilitate AI adoption while managing potential risks.
