
A new version of Appleseed, the open-source renderer designed for animation and VFX, has just been released. Version 2.1 introduces several enhancements, including support for Cryptomatte AOVs, render checkpointing for resuming mult-pass renders, OSL shader support, a fisheye camera, sample control using a black and white mask, and filter importance sampling, among other features. Appleseed plugins are compatible with Blender, 3DS Max, and Maya.
