AMD has joined the Blender development fund at the Patron level, joining the ranks of Epic and NVIDIA. This is exciting news, as it means AMD will be contributing $120,000 a year, which is enough to support two full-time developers. According to a post on Blender Nation, the funds are specifically allocated to supporting AMD’s own technologies and general development. This includes plans to migrate the software to the cross-platform Vulkan graphics API. Also, Embark Studios, a Swedish game developer, has announced a yearly contribution of $30,000. They also plan to release some of their in-house tools for Blender.
