Chaos has released V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max, update 2. This update merges V-Ray and Enscape into a unified architectural visualization workflow, improves USD support, and introduces several new features.
The update allows for a seamless workflow from CAD to DCC (Digital Content Creation), incorporating Enscape environments, materials, and assets. This integration aims to streamline the visualization process and resolve inconsistencies between applications.
V-Ray 6, update 2, also incorporates MaterialX support, improving the USD (Universal Scene Description) pipeline for more efficient rendering and shader exchanges across teams and tools. The updated USD support for 3ds Max is included, providing users with the latest features of the tool.
Additional features in this update include faster workflows through Chaos Cloud One-Click Submit, enhanced .vrscene exports, and a unified V-Ray Lister for 3ds Max. V-Ray GPU updates offer new capabilities such as V-Ray Enmesh for generating intricate geometric patterns and accelerated animation rendering.
For more realistic scattering effects, the update introduces Groups Hierarchy, Altitude Variance, and Scatter Orientation within Chaos Scatter. The V-Ray Frame Buffer (VFB) benefits from Chromatic Aberration and Custom Background Color options. Moreover, the IES Light Models in Chaos Cosmos enable faster interior illumination with ready-to-render assets.
