Colourlab Ai 3: New AI Color Grading Tool Released on Windows & macOS

Color Intelligence releases Colourlab Ai 3

Color Intelligence has released Colourlab Ai 3, the new version of its AI color grading tool.

The update rebuilds the software’s color engine from scratch, providing significantly enhanced precision compared to the previous release, and is now available on both Windows and macOS.

Initially, only the Creator edition has been updated to version 3, with the Pro edition update expected next month.

A Next-Generation AI Color Grading System
First released in 2020, Colourlab Ai is an AI-based color grading system.

The software can match the grade of a sequence of shots to a reference shot or image with results comparable to an initial pass by a professional colorist.

Co-developed by colorist Dado Valentic, the technology has gained traction in the broadcast, VFX, and games industries.

Users of Colourlab Ai, along with related tools like Look Designer and Grainlab, include major names in entertainment.

Colourlab Ai 3: Enhanced AI Color Engine
Color Intelligence describes Colourlab Ai 3 as a complete overhaul of the software, rebuilding the AI color engine from the ground up.

The updated engine incorporates advanced systems and is described as having greatly improved precision compared to Colourlab Ai 2.

While detailed feature lists may vary, other features include Balance and Region Match.

Balance automatically adjusts colors in footage for a neutral, balanced look.

Region Match automatically matches the color grade of specific areas of source and target footage, such as skin tones or the sky, while leaving the rest of the shot unchanged.

Now available on Windows and integrates with DaVinci Resolve
Other changes include availability on Windows, in addition to macOS.

Live synchronization of grading with DaVinci Resolve is available in the Creator edition and with more expensive Pro and Studio subscriptions.

Currently, Resolve is the only third-party application with which Colourlab Ai 3 Creator syncs; integration with After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and Premiere Pro is planned for later this month.

The Pro edition is scheduled to be updated to version 3 in February 2024, adding support for RAW camera files, SDI connections, and Tangent control surfaces.
