iToo Software Launches Free SplineOffset Plugin for 3DS Max

SplineOffset, a new free plugin by iToo Software

iToo Software has unveiled a new, complimentary plugin tailored for 3DS Max, christened SplineOffset.

SplineOffset functions as a modifier, enabling the duplication of splines while affording users the capacity to incrementally adjust their offset, translation, and rotation properties.

In essence, this tool amalgamates the functionalities of a parameterized variant of 3DS Max’s native array tool and iToo’s free Clone modifier. Further enhancing its capabilities, SplineOffset can progressively offset splines and automatically rectify paths that overlap. Being a modifier, it operates with full parametric control, empowering users to modify or animate the clone count, offset magnitudes, and distribution characteristics at any juncture.

Additional features encompass the ability to define, offset, and sequence material IDs; five distinct end types for open splines; and the flexibility to designate three types of corner bevels.

Two offset algorithms are provided: the feature-rich 2D algorithm, equipped to mend overlapping splines but at the expense of flattening the source spline along the Z-axis. Conversely, the 3D algorithm, while lacking the healing capabilities and end types, maintains the original spline shape on the Z-axis. The flexibility to integrate multiple SplineOffset modifiers facilitates the creation of 2D and 3D arrays, each with customized settings.

SplineOffset is available free of charge and is compatible with Max 2013 and subsequent versions of the software. Additional details and download instructions are available on the iToo Software website.
