The retro sci-fi genre is a perennial source of inspiration for creative artists. This is evident in Darko Mitev’s project, “The Experiment.” A Senior CG Generalist at Brown Bag Film, Mitev crafts a compelling narrative through environment design, camera movement, and sound design. The project delves into the chilling setting of the Cold War, depicting an underground experimental facility where a malevolent scientist conducts genetic experiments on humans. The video begins just after a containment chamber malfunctions, allowing a test subject to escape and eliminate the scientist on duty.
The project’s completion spanned approximately four months. Darko dedicated his free time after work to the project, facing periods where freelance commitments caused him to pause work for days or even weeks.
