Issue:
When opening a scene created in an older version of Maya within a more current version, the UVs might appear broken.
Causes:
The algorithms in newer Maya versions have been optimized and changed.
UVs with history originating from older Maya versions can be imported incorrectly into newer versions.
Solution:
To resolve this, follow these steps:
- Open the file in a previous version (Maya 2015 or older).
- Delete non-deformer history on the objects.
- Select the object(s).
- Navigate to Edit > Delete By Type > History > Non-Deformer History.
- Re-save the file.
Opening the saved file without history prevents the new UVs from being affected by the algorithm.
