Deform Dynamics has launched Dynamo, a new GPU-accelerated cloth dynamics plugin designed for 3ds Max. The developers claim it offers a performance increase of 10 to 100 times compared to the built-in cloth modifier.
Dynamo uses a modifier-based approach, promising real-time performance and an interactive design process. At launch, the solver supports stretching, bending stiffness, pressure, and soft bodies, along with wind forces, with the ability to animate every property. Users can also utilize pins, which can be added and removed interactively. For creating clothing and other multi-panel designs, seams are fully supported.
The plugin also allows users to disable physical forces like gravity and employ Dynamo’s real-time interactive mode to sculpt cloth shapes. A subdivision mode is included to smooth simulated cloth.
Dynamo is priced at €99, and a 30-day trial period is available. Versions for Unity and Unreal are also planned for release in the near future.
