renderStacks 1.06: The Ultimate Render Pass Manager for 3ds Max

RenderStacks 1.06 released

So, what is renderStacks? It’s a render pass and task manager for 3dsMax, similar to tools like RPManager, LPass Manager, Prism, StateSet, and Scene State. However, it’s designed to be smarter, faster, and more stable.

In essence, renderStacks allows you to define a sequence of tasks to be executed per pass, and you can create an unlimited number of passes per scene. For instance, you can instruct renderStacks to “set viewport to Camera001, set the resolution to 1920×1080, and assign the output path to ‘Z:projectawesome…v001awesome_bty.exr,’ also, set the frame range from 100 to 300 and apply a Red Plastic material for Teapots” for a specific pass called “Bty.”

renderStacks helps artists by eliminating many common scene management tasks. Simply configure your render passes once and then focus on your artistic vision! How much render node time is wasted due to simple errors? renderStacks can assist in preventing potential human errors. Better yet, you can manage all this through a user-friendly interface without writing a single line of code.

The developers of renderStacks have hands-on experience with many other render pass solutions for 3dsMax and have studied videos of unreleased solutions, such as the Hierarchical Render Pass Manager for 3dsmax. They have even looked at solutions in other DCCs such as Modo’s render pass system and Maya’s Render Setup and Render Layer. renderStacks is the result of years of production experience as artists and is their attempt to combine the best features from other solutions. They like to think of renderStacks as the ultimate render pass manager!
